Neck, shoulder and arm pain may come from muscles, joints, discs, nerves, tendons, posture, repetitive work, injury or referred pain from the cervical spine. Symptoms can include neck stiffness, shoulder blade pain, headaches, arm pain, pins and needles, weakness, reduced shoulder movement, muscle spasm or pain aggravated by desk work and driving. Neck pain can result from strain, injury, age-related change, stress and mechanical dysfunction.
Assessment and treatment
At Sayer Clinics, we do not treat the neck, shoulder and arm as separate unrelated parts. The cervical spine, upper back, ribs, shoulder blade, shoulder joint, arm, wrist, posture and nerve pathways are assessed together.
Treatment may include chiropractic care, spinal mobilisation, shoulder and rib mechanics work, massage therapy, soft-tissue release, nerve mobility work, postural correction, strengthening and ergonomic advice.
This whole-chain approach is especially important when arm pain, shoulder pain or tingling is being driven by neck or nerve irritation rather than only local shoulder tissue.
Your first consultation includes a full medical history, clinical examination, diagnosis, consented digital X-ray where clinically indicated, first treatment session and clear aftercare advice. Treatment is always adapted to your condition, examination findings, medical history and comfort level. Where symptoms suggest a condition requiring medical investigation, we will advise appropriate referral.
